God has a plan for all of us - August 28, 2017 - Apple Valley & Rancho Cucamonga

Sister Clarke and Sister Allred with Gwen!

My dearest Mommy Mom,

Sister Clarke and I had a very busy week. My head is spinning! Our investigators have been doing so well. I hope and pray that they will be taken care of while we are gone. Yes, that means I have gotten transferred. I'm serving in Rancho Cucamonga. We left about 10 investigators. They are all women and our ward is getting blue washed (only Elders are in our ward now) Sister Clarke and I were pretty frantic when we found everything out. Sister Clarke was praying for guidance and answers yesterday morning. She asked Heavenly Father why he was letting both of us leave the people we were teaching because we love them so much. Her answer is something I will never forget, "I know you love them. But Sister Clarke I love them more. Trust in me and my plan." WOW! Isn't it so true though? God has a plan for all of us. My confidence in God is growing stronger and stronger.

So, Sister Clarke left yesterday before dinner. It was hard and still is. I cried a lot yesterday and today. I will miss her dearly. She helped me completely fall in love with missionary work and serving the Lord and I thank Heavenly Father for blessing me with her as a wonderful companion.

So, a little bit about Rancho...It so gorgeous down here and I love how I really do feel that I am in California. There are a lot of health food stores down here and that will be a huge blessing for me. We will be walking a lot because our area is on the smaller side and that means we can street contact a ton!! And our apartment is very nice. I feel a little bit spoiled. And my new companion is Sister Clinger!!!!!!! I've known her since she arrived in the mission and we have always been really good friends! She is a super hard worker and she is kind of a genius. We are super pumped to serve together and we are eager to get to work!

My studies are going really well. I just read 2 Nephi 31 about the Doctrine of Christ. That chapter is a go to as a missionary!! I love when it talks about how we must stay on the straight and narrow path if we are to obtain eternal life. The path we walk on these days is getting more and more narrow and the only way we can stay on it is if we focus on our Savior like what Peter needed to do while he was walking on water towards Christ. If he would have kept his focus on Jesus than he wouldn't have begun to sink or in this case we won't fall off the path. But the beauty of that story is that Christ reached out to Peter when Peter cried out for help. I love that!! It brings be so much comfort to know that Christ is always ALWAYS there to help us.

I am anxious for the things that I will learn in my new area. I have been asking Heavenly Father to bless me with a faith building experience so that I of course can build my faith, but so He can trust me as one of His humble servants to teach repentance and baptize converts.

Thank you for putting my name on the temple list. That means a lot to me💕That touches me about your sweet experience at the temple. The joy, love and fulfillment we get when we love and serve others is unlike any other.

Thank you for your email! I loved reading it. I love you my beautiful mommy mom! I hope you have a great week!!!

Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep growing. Heaven will be cheering you on today, tomorrow, and forever.

Sister Allred

Bye mommy mom!!! I love you to the moon and back!!!!!

Sister Allred

From Mom: I love you too! To the moon and back! I loved your email!

Thoughts from Mom:
I read a talk by Elder Neil L. Anderson a few days ago, and this quote hit me very deeply: "As our spiritual antennas are pointed heavenward, the Lord guides us to those we can help."

I went to the temple yesterday. It was a beautiful experience. There was a sister in a wheel chair in the session. She couldn't even sit up straight, and was completely hunched over. She was quite elderly. Anyway, there was a sister sitting near her that was helping her during the session, and one of the ordinance workers helped her also. They both had to lift her arms for everything, and had to help her with all the clothing. It was amazing to watch. It made me think of the Savior, and how He lifts us and helps us do the things that we cannot do ourselves. It was a very tender session.

Big Bear for P-day - August 21, 2017 - Apple Valley

I'm soooooo sorry this is going to be the quickest email ever. We got permission to go hiking in Big Bear for Sister Clarke's last p-day.

Our week was incredible. our newer investigator S has her baptismal date for October 14!!!!!!!!!! she is incredible and wants this more than anything. We can feel God's love for her so strong

Yesterday we also had 2 investigators at sacrament. One of them was L!!! We hadn't seen her in almost 2 months. And guess what. HER DAD CAME WITH HER!!!!!!!! It was a great day.

Again, I’m so sorry for this tiny tiny email but Sister Clarke has wanted to go to Big Bear for so long and now we have the opportunity.

I hope your week is wonderful my beautiful mommy mom!!! I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!!

Sister Allred

From Mom:
Preston's last day attending our ward was today. He blessed the sacrament, went to his other meetings, went to BYC, came home and then went home teaching, came home, and then went to SYM, came home, and then we went to his Court of Honor. What a day!

We did get some studying done tonight. We are in 2 Nephi 20... and we also finished the first discussion. WOW! We read a page a day in Preach My Gospel, and usually 2 pages a day in the Book of Mormon. 2 Nephi is a bit challenging (especially the Isaiah chapters), so I keep telling him that when we make it through those chapters, it will get a lot easier to understand. We have had some profound discussions about the Restoration. It is amazing. It has strengthened my testimony also, to study all of that in depth, and to discuss it with Preston! I really wish I could go on another mission someday. Maybe in about 10 years!

I love you to the moon and back! Enjoy Big Bear! Wow! Hope you get some great pictures!

From Mom:
Preston had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor tonight! He did it! I think it finally feels official to him, but remember he had his board of review on Dec. 14, 2016, so he has waited 8 months for the court of honor. But, there were four boys that were honored: Preston, Dallas, Brevin, and Noah. So, it was cool. Here are some pictures....
