I love the temple! - November 16, 2017 - Rancho Cucamonga

Hi, my wonderful mommy mom!

Pre-warning! Today is temple day!!!!! Which means we have to leave super soon so this is going to be quick!

Sister Weir and I had a great week. We found a new investigator. His name is Usman and he is from Pakistan. Despite the fact that he is deeply rooted in the Muslim religion, he really wants to learn about the gospel! How cool!! Blessings come from talking to everyone even when you feel intimidated. Countless doors have just opened up to him and his family. What a blessing.

One little miracle last week was when we went to contact a potential that we had found a couple of weeks ago, his friend answered the door and immediately knew who we were! The potential's name was Rudy and his friend is Mike. Mike mentioned that Rudy had already talked about the Mormon missionaries that talked to him a couple of weeks ago that said they would come back and they were looking forward to talking with us. Though it wasn't a formal lesson/discussion, we had a wonderful, long conversation with both of them! It was completely centered on Christ. We were so surprised with those 2. I had never met such Christlike people on my mission and they aren't even members yet! They would like us to come back and read the Book of Mormon with them. Hopefully this is the start of their journey.

Sister Weir is just about ready to go. Little by little we have been preparing for transfers and her departure back home. Saying we are overwhelmed is a bit of an understatement! My oh my, the temple trip couldn't have come at a better time. But all is well!

This morning I was studying about the Temple in True to the Faith. I love the first paragraph; "Temples are literally houses of the Lord. They are holy places of worship where the Lord may visit. Only the home can compare with temples in sacredness." Wow. Thinking how sacred the temple is, is absolutely mind blowing. When I think that we can experience the perfect holiness within the temple in this mortal life is such a sure sign that our Father in Heaven loves us more than we can comprehend. I love the temple and I can't wait to go today!

Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep growing. Heaven will be cheering you on today, tomorrow, and forever.

Thank you, mom, for all that you do for me. Thank you for being a blessing in my life. I love you to the moon and back!

Love,
Sister Allred

From Mom:

I went to the temple on Saturday night and did a session. While I was in the chapel waiting I opened the scriptures to D&C 6, and read verse 5: "Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive; if you will knock it shall be opened unto you."

It was as if the Spirit was speaking directly to me... IF you (Nancy) will ask of me you shall receive. IF you (Nancy) will knock it shall be opened unto you.

WOW! I realized that it is as simple as "IF" I will do this, then Heavenly Father will bless me. He will bless each of us.

This morning I listened to Pres. Uchtdorf's conference talk, "A Yearning for Home." He talks about our yearning to go back to our heavenly home, and the deep feelings we have. I loved this quote:

-------------

"I testify that when we embark upon or continue the incredible journey that leads to God, our lives will be better.

"This does not mean that our lives will be free from sorrow. We all know of faithful followers of Christ who suffer tragedy and injustice—Jesus Christ Himself suffered more than anyone. Just as God makes the “sun to rise on the evil and on the good,” He also allows adversity to test the just and the unjust. In fact, sometimes it seems that our lives are more difficult because we are trying to live our faith.

"No, following the Savior will not remove all of your trials. However, it will remove the barriers between you and the help your Heavenly Father wants to give you. God will be with you. He will direct your steps. He will walk beside you and even carry you when your need is greatest."

-----------------

I love that phrase, "it will remove the barriers between you and the help your Heavenly Father wants to give you."

I pray for you to have that constantly, that you will feel heaven's help in your life personally, and in your missionary work, in your companionship, in all that you do. In fact, I pray for that for each of my wonderful children.

Have a wonderful week my beautiful daughter! Be strong and of a good courage! May the angels be round about you to bear you up!

I love you to the moon and back.
