Hi Mommy mom!!!! Thank you for your email! I loved it :) I hope you had a nice time with the music camp! It sounds so fun!!!
Every week when you talk about grandma she impresses me every time. She is sooo strong willed it's insane! I admire her so much!
Father’s Day was really hard for me. I thought I was going to hold up alright but during sacrament meeting I got really emotional. Not very many members know about dad and the choir director was trying to get us to participate in the musical number. Haha I was a mess I just couldn't do it!
Quick back story. Last week our bishop asked us to visit a young less active couple ASAP because they are struggling really bad. They hadn't been to church since my first week in the field. He didn't give details he just said to rely on the spirit when we go over to see them. We did see them on Friday and it was a very interesting visit but we were able to share an amazing message with them about the peace that Christ can provide for us.
So, major tender mercy...as Sister Clarke and I were debating how long we were going to stay because I was an emotional wreck, they walked into sacrament meeting!!! We were overjoyed. The bishopric was so shocked to see them walk in! Suddenly my whole focus completely turned to them. The rest of the day I didn't feel sad or overwhelmed anymore. They were my angels yesterday. They have no idea how their effort to come to church impacted me. The less active sister later asked us if we can start to come over to visit them weekly. Sister Clarke and I feel impressed to focus on the power of the Atonement. We are so excited for them and for their desires to live the gospel again.
All of our investigators are doing really well! We are working really for them. Something that Sister Clarke and I are really working on is teaching with the Spirit. Of course, we have always been striving to do that but we are getting better at it. Often times now we will plan for lessons and they will turn into discussions that we didn't think they needed. This is especially happening for our investigator Anita. She is happier and happier every time we go over which is a HUGE step for her!! I'm so thankful for the Spirit!!!
We found 2 more people that we are going to start teaching next week. One of them is a sweet lady from Nigeria! We just about died when we knocked on her door because when she answered it she said we could come in. We kind of hesitated and started saying that we were missionaries for church and she interrupted us midway and said in her African accent "Girls I know who you are. Come in!" WHOA!!!! Hahahaha it was awesome! We are so pumped to start teaching her!
Last week was very smooth sailing and also very hot! A member said it is supposed to get up to 120? Haha I don't know if it really will. Lots of people will offer us water! Heat stroke apparently is ridiculously common. People like to take care of us even if they aren't interested. We are so blessed!!!!!
Mom I am so happy out here. Deciding to serve a mission is the best this I have ever done in my life. Serving Heavenly Father and his children is unlike anything I imagined how amazing a mission would be. Miracles happen each and every day. I am so thankful for Sister Clarke. She never ceases to walk beside me and the Lord. She helps me rely on Christ💕Besides my Savior (and Preston hahaha)
she is my very best friend!
You know what is funny? I remember just about everything about home, but it's weird to think that it was actually real. I just love serving and I wouldn't want to be doing anything else. The gospel has helped me learn how to totally live in the moment and love it no matter what. The gospel means "good news" and I have been blessed to have this opportunity to spread good news! IT'S THE BEST!!!!
Well that was our week! Thank you for all of your prayers! I can feel them.
I love you so much my wonderful mommy mom! Thank you for always sending my gospel related things. They help me so much. I swear ever week you send me something inspired! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!! ❤❤❤❤
|Remembering Grandpa! We love Grandpa and Grandma!|
My dear Sister Allred, my sweetie girl!
I loved your email last week! And I love you so much!
So, how was your day? It was an interesting Father's Day... We miss Grandpa, but we know that he is working hard in the spirit world. In fact, it is so wonderful to know that he has a purpose in the spirit world, that of teaching the gospel. So, you are both missionaries! That is amazing. And I believe that he watches over you! We know that are loved ones that have passed on before, are very close to us!
I stopped by Dad's grave... The headstone isn't ready yet. It will be awhile. Did you get the funeral DVD? Let me know. There is one song that doesn't have any sound (I Need Thee Every Hour). Not sure why they turned it off. Oh well...
We had an amazing R.S. lesson today. A young sister that is new in our ward, gave a wonderful lesson on Obedience. Then I played for her and her sister as they sang "Have You Received HIs Image in Your Countenance." Then I said the closing prayer, and right after I started to pray, I was overcome with emotion. The spirit was so strong. It was very tender.
Grandma is doing well. I took her to Walmart yesterday, and there weren't any motorized carts, so she just walked around pushing a shopping cart. She did well. It is good exercise for her. She's cute. She has something to mail almost every day. And then we take her to the bank a couple of times a week.
I pray for you all the time. Be strong and of a good courage, my beautiful daughter! May the angels be round about you to bear you up. "Remember that they that be with us are more than they that be with them!"
Another scripture that I love in D&C 38:7 "But behold, verily, verily, I say unto you that mine eyes are upon you. I am in your midst and ye cannot see me."
I love the scripture. It has helped me many, many times.
I love you, my incredible darling missionary!
My favorite quote of the week:
Pres. Eyring, "My Peace I Leave With You." (from the General Women's Session)
You will at times have your faith challenged by Satan; it happens to all disciples of Jesus Christ. Your defense against these attacks is to keep the Holy Ghost as your companion. The Spirit will speak peace to your soul. He will urge you forward in faith. And He will bring back the memory of those times when you felt the light and the love of Jesus Christ.
Remembering may be one of the most precious gifts the Spirit can give you. He will “bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever [the Lord has] said unto you” (John 14:26). The memory may be of an answered prayer, of a priesthood ordinance received, of a confirmation of your testimony, or of a moment when you saw God’s guiding hand in your life. Perhaps in a future day when you need strength, the Spirit may bring to your memory the feelings you are having during this meeting. I pray that this may be so.
