Missionary work is the best - February 27, 2017 - Apple Valley

February 27, 2017

Dear my beloved mommy mom!

That’s so special that you were able to give a talk with the other missionary parents! Did you cry? AWE I MISS MY MOM!!!!❤❤❤ I’ll have you know that I have been especially grateful for your incredibly strong testimony this week! I remember it constantly! And I have been feeling your prayers. Thank you for being the best mommy mom you can be!!!❤😄

How are you? How’s school and choir? How’s corg juna ben lindz and gike?? I did end up getting Preston’s email. I love his emails!! He always makes me laugh! Oh and how is dad doing? I have been praying really hard for grandma! She is a tough cookie! I have definitely been thinking that she would love a card from me and I’m working on it! We don’t have time to send one this week so I will send her my letter next week. Tell her how much I love and appreciate her and all that she has done for us and others. She is AMAZING!!!

So this week was very slow. Our investigator keeps canceling on us but we refuse to give up on her because she has so much potential! We also haven’t been able to get in very many houses this week. Not even the members' homes. HOWEVER last night we ate a member's home and without us asking, she gave us 2 referrals!!! And they sound amazing! We will be contacting them this week and we are so excited!! They are both very interested! A couple of days we had dinner with some members and they own their own restaurant called Johny D's so we ate there and it was SOOO good! It was like a classic little diner oh my goodness it was so cute! But anyways it was the Andersons who fed us and seriously if you meet them for the first time you would have thought he was a general authority! He is so powerful and he gave us some amazing advice. I felt like a new missionary! (I guess I still kind of am haha) but wow!! We left dinner so spiritually uplifted. It was just what we needed!

Speaking of being spiritually uplifted, zone conference highlights!! I'll just some it up real quick. But the main focus at the meeting was being the best missionary you can possibly be. They taught us to always press forward with everything we have and be the light for others to follow without getting caught up in their struggles. It’s easy for us as missionaries to be brought down while he is trying to help someone else out. Its easy for us to let their negativeness get in our head and often times that’s when the adversary can grab us and pull us down. We have to have that steadfastness in Christ so that we can continue to let our lights shine at all times and in all things and in all places so that others can follow our examples.

Something else that happened this week was our 4-week meeting!! That was also an unforgettable experience. We got to go to Rancho Cucamonga!! It was so fun! And I also LOVED seeing my MTC district! They are the best!! It was super cool to see how they have spiritually matured even after 4 weeks of being in the field! Missionary work is THE BEST!! I can’t wait to see what is ahead of us and I have so much faith in Christ!

We should be getting our heater fixed soon so that will be SO NICE! To answer your question YES I got my clothes. THANK YOU!!! They were much needed. We need to layer at night cause it gets to cold! So this whole time in the field we haven’t needed to wear jackets during the day because it will be very warm but this week has been pretty gloomy and chilly so that package came right on time! We are all just grateful that we are not in Russia or Canada. WE ARE SO SPOILED HERE!

I have a little tender mercy I would love to share. On Saturday I had a super bad migraine. We did all that I could do but sister Tate and the members that fed us that night were getting worried because it was so bad. We decided to just go home so I could get some extra rest. Of course I didn’t want to but we decided it was very necessary. Sister Tate suggested that I get a blessing from the elders. I hesitated because I felt silly getting a blessing for something that I could just sleep off. She insisted and so we called the elders and they were at the apartment within a few minutes. Elder Petrie gave my blessing. He is still fairly new and we could tell he was nervous. The second he opened his mouth I knew the blessing was coming from my Father in Heaven. After the blessing was over I stood up and was amazed. My migraine had completely been healed. I was suffering all day and it was just lifted from me. I have a firm testimony of the power of the priesthood! I’m beyond grateful for Joseph Smith and that he was worthy to restore the priesthood back on this earth! And I’m so grateful for you mom, that you have your sons who are worthy priesthood holders so that they can bless our family whenever they need it!

I love you mom and I’m so grateful for everything you have done for me! I have been missing my family a lot this week but that makes me want to work even harder because I want to make my family and my Heavenly Father proud! I love this work, I love this Gospel, and I love serving in the Rancho Cucamonga mission! All is well🤗

Love Sister Allred

From Mom: Remember we pray for you all the time. I am so proud of you. I know that missions are hard... And I know there are challenges. And I also know that you can do it, with the Lord's help. Always rely on Him. Always listen to the spirit.

Alma 33:23 - "And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen."

President Russell M. Nelson: "My dear brothers and sisters, the joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives. When the focus of our lives is on God’s plan of salvation, which President Thomas S. Monson just taught us, and Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening—or not happening—in our lives. Joy comes from and because of Him. He is the source of all joy."
